Why visit San Vito Lo Capo
San Vito Lo Capo, in the province of Trapani, is one of the best-loved destinations in north-western Sicily. Here a light-sand beach overlooks a clear sea, and Monte Monaco rises above the town.
Besides the sea, the area offers nature trails, protected reserves a few kilometres away, local cuisine and international events such as the Cous Cous Fest.

The beach of San Vito Lo Capo

The main beach is a wide stretch of fine, light sand, with clear waters in shades of turquoise. The shallow seabed makes it suitable for families with children.
The seafront is ideal for walks and for watching the sunset. There are beach clubs, seaside services and places to eat.

Monte Monaco: the symbol of San Vito Lo Capo

At over 500 metres high, Monte Monaco is the natural feature that characterises the gulf and is visible from almost every point of the town.
Those who love hiking can follow the trails to the summit, from which you can see the sea, the town and the coast of western Sicily.
The Zingaro Nature Reserve

The Zingaro Reserve lies between San Vito Lo Capo and Scopello. The coastal trail is about 7 km long and crosses Mediterranean scrub, cliffs and small bays reachable only on foot.

Scopello and the Tonnara
Scopello is a village overlooking the sea, at the opposite end of the Zingaro Reserve from San Vito Lo Capo. The historic Tonnara (tuna fishery) and the Faraglioni (sea stacks) are among the most recognisable images of the Trapani coast and well worth a visit.
The Monte Cofano Nature Reserve
Along the coast between San Vito Lo Capo and Custonaci, the Monte Cofano Reserve offers routes between sea and mountain.
Coastal trails, natural caves and ancient watchtowers tell of a lesser-known landscape of great charm.
The Cous Cous Fest

The Cous Cous Fest is the town’s main international event and attracts visitors from all over the Mediterranean.
During the festival there are food competitions, concerts, tastings and cultural events. The year’s other events are collected on the Events in San Vito Lo Capo page.
